Historique :	La tradition veut que cette étole soit celle de saint Pol Aurélien qui a vécu au VIe sièlce. Il a été consacré évêque du Léon par Childebert 1er, le premier roi mérovingien (511-588) après Clovis. Cette étole lui aurait été offerte par le roi. La légende qui lui attribue le domptage d'un grand dragon avec son étole, date d'avant sa consécration par le roi.

Précision_sur la representation :	Les deux extrémités rouges sont dissemblables. Le motif qui constitue la décoration de cette étole a été coupé à un moment de son histoire. Il est envisageable de supposer qu'à l'origine il s'agissait d'une bande compléte décorative appliquée sur un vêtement uni pour orner le bas ou les manches ou les 'clavis' d'une tunique. Représentation d'une chasse princière aux faucons et aux chiens (ou aux lions).
